happy birthday, popchips! we’ve come a long way in five years…
in pop culture, a flash in the pan turns into yesterday’s news in the blink of an eye. but, as popchips celebrate’s its fifth birthday this week, we’re taking a look back at our contemporaries of the past five years with pop culture staying power, influence and mojo, and congratulate them on getting to, and staying, at the top of pop.
pop culture game changer: it was just five years ago that apple introduced the iphone, a device that would change technology as we know it, setting the bar for mobile phones around the world, and becoming an indispensable part of daily life.
pop culture parents: five years ago, movie stars jennifer lopez, halle berry and jessica alba were all pregnant and five years later, they are still relevant, working a-listers, reinventing modern motherhood and looking great while doing it.
pop culture monster: in 2007, lady gaga was an unknown local club performer on manhattan’s lower east side. now, she is one of the best selling musical artists of all time, with over 24 million twitter followers and 5 grammys.
pop culture comeback: five years ago, britney spears suffered a pop culture meltdown, with the trifecta of shaving her head, losing custody of her boys and giving one of the most lackluster vma performances in history. today, brit’s reclaimed her “princess of pop” title by inking a multi-million dollar deal to become the x factor’s newest judge. congrats, brit!
here at popchips, we’ve also come a long way in five years, and we’re looking ahead with the same hunger and passion that made our first five pop. we invite you to join us in making this year the #yearofpop, by being a part of it! share your photos, videos and messages here and we’ll give you something tasty worth remembering…
