how did arizona game changer ryan roberts celebrate hitting the first inside-the-park home run of his career last week? he joined us for an afternoon of giving back and playing ball with the children and families of the phoenix non-profit, ryan house.
the adaptive baseball game took place at the virginia g. piper sports and recreation center for persons with disabilities. most of the ryan house kids are wheelchair bound or have some type of physical disability, but that didn’t stop them from hitting fly balls or skidding into home base with the help of their hometown hero, ryan roberts! ryan spent time with each one of the 25 kids and their families who attended signing autographs, popping and posing for pictures, and just making them smile.
in addition to a fun baseball game with ryan, families enjoyed other activities like arts and crafts, corn hole and rock climbing. each child received their very own game changers t-shirt (thanks to ct beat for donating them!), a popchips hat and of course lots of popchips to take home.
to end the day, ryan roberts had all the ryan house kids sign his game changers’ jersey so he could frame it and have something to remember his experience. ryan sent out this tweet immediately after the event, “@rroberts14: @ryanhouseorg @popchipsaz thanks so much for everything today. that was one of the best times of my life. really touched my heart. #soblessed”
and that’s not all. ryan roberts also announced that he will donate all proceeds from his tatman t-shirt line straight to ryan house for the next 30 days. visit youth monument to get your shirt today and chip in for an amazing phoenix cause.
we would like to thank our retail partner fry’s food stores and distributor hensley beverage company as well as our media partner, arizona sports radio, for chipping in with us. a huge thank you to ryan house for allowing us to be a brief part of their lives and to ryan roberts for giving his time & showing us what it really means to be a game changer.
