we were lucky enough to recently team up with vanouver game changer, ryan kesler, to support the bc society of transition houses, a non-profit provincial association that supports the services and strategies to end violence against women, youth and children.
proving he’s a game changer on and off the ice, ryan filmed a public service announcement aimed at children and youth exposed to violence in the home to help them understand that they are not alone, and make them aware of available supports. it will air in classrooms this fall.
after the heart-warming filming, 15 lucky guests filed in to meet, greet and eat with ryan. reiko mackenzie, from the real housewives of vancouver, made a special guest appearance at the event to show her support to end violence against women, and children’s exposure to violence in the home. the bc society of transition houses also presented ryan with an award, and his very own caricature portrait with their signature slogan: “love doesn’t hurt”
we’d like to sincerely thank the bc society of transition houses for collaborating with us to make this event possible. we’d also like to thank our retailer partners – choices, urban fare, london drugs and quality foods – and our radio partners, sonic nation and jack fm, for their support. and of course a big thanks to our vancouver game changer, ryan kesler for chipping in with us to make a difference for this incredible cause!
be sure to follow @popchipsvan to keep up with more ways we’re chipping in for vancouver!
