how do you pop a chip?

Popping is a way of cooking our all-natural ingredients using heat, pressure, and a little snack magic to burst the ingredients into the shape of a chip before we season it. In fact, making popchips is almost as much fun as eating them. We said almost.

don't chips need a lot of fat
to taste really good?

You'd think. But no oil is used in the popping process, that’s what makes it so great. Then we use just a bit of all-natural safflower and/or sunflower oil in the seasoning. So popchips still have all the flavor, and less than half the fat of fried potato chips. That means you'll never again have to wipe your greasy chip hand on your jeans.

what kind of oil do you use?

We only use all natural safflower and/or sunflower oil (not hydrogenated, of course) in seasoning our chips.

do popchips have any trans fat
or saturated fat?

popchips popped potato chips have 0 grams of trans fat and no saturated fat except for sour cream & onion and cheddar flavors which have 0.5 grams because, well, that’s the way cream and cheese are.

what's all natural?

For us, it's simple: no fake colors, no fake flavors, no preservatives, no fluorescent orange fingertips, and no wiping your greasy chip hand on your jeans. No, really. We only use ingredients you can feel good about eating, like wholesome potatoes, and we leave out the bad stuff, like hydrogenated oils and msg that give snacking a bad name. Even though "all natural" doesn't have any established standards with the fda, we've made it our priority to meet the highest "all natural" standards out there.

do you use any preservatives,
artificial flavors, colors, or ingredients like msg?

Nope. So don't try leaving our chips out for the next seven years. They have no preservatives, no fake flavors, and no fake colors. Every last chip is totally natural.

so how long do popchips stay fresh?

Because there's so little oil, they'll stay fresh for more than 12 months in an unopened bag. To anyone that has the self-restraint to let popchips sit in their cupboard that long to prove it, we commend you. Remember, though, that they have no preservatives, so get a good chip clip after opening the bag. Or better yet, just eat them all at once.

are popchips kosher?

All of our products are kosher certified.

are popchips gluten free?

While none of our popped potato chips are made with gluten, we don’t claim that any of our products are gluten-free. Because we make popchips on equipment shared with wheat and soy products, we can’t assure you there are no trace amounts of gluten in any of our products. If you’re highly allergic to gluten we have to recommend you don’t eat popchips. Sorry.

what about allergens like nuts or dairy?

A very few of our popped chips have soy or dairy and these allergens are marked on the ingredient section of each bag, so be sure to check the bag carefully.

are popchips non-gmo?

Yes, other than our parmesan garlic potato chips (which have a few minor ingredients in the seasoning which we’re still working on), popchips are non-gmo.

are popchips vegan?

Our original potato chips are vegan. Snack away.

do you have an organic line?

Not right now, but give us a while. In the meantime, you can enjoy popchips knowing that they're all natural.

In the West, popchips are available at leading retailers including Safeway, Whole Foods Market, Vons, QFC, and Ralphs. In the Northeast, popchips are available in Duane Reade, Wegman's, King Kullen and a growing number of many other world class retailers. i've only seen a few flavors on the shelf. why?

popchips popped potato chips are available in lots of taste-bud popping flavors but every retailer may not carry them all. If you want more flavors, march into your local retailer and ask them to carry additional flavors. Or you can buy online buy online at amazon.com.

who makes popchips?

We do! popchips is a new brand of popped snacks from popchips, inc., which was founded in 2007.

where are popchips made?

We make them ourselves at our plant in Southern California. We choose to pop them ourselves, because a) otherwise we'd have to let someone else in on the magic, b) it gives us total control over the quality and the all-natural ingredients that go into our chips, and c) why would we let someone else have all the fun?
